UTM campaign URL builder

Create consistent campaign links for newsletters, partner placements and external social posts. Enter your destination and naming labels, then copy the finished URL. The builder preserves existing non-UTM parameters and the page fragment.

How to use this tool

Replace the example values, then build your campaign link. Review the assumptions below before using the result to make a decision. No signup required.

How the URL is built

  • Final URL = destination + encoded campaign query parameters + original fragment
  • Existing source, medium, campaign, content, term and ID parameters are replaced. Blank optional fields remove their existing parameter.

Worked example

The example link keeps plan=team and #details. It adds utm_source=newsletter, utm_medium=email, utm_campaign=autumn-demo and utm_content=hero-link.

A second link in the same email can keep the same source, medium and campaign while using content=footer-link. That creates a placement distinction without fragmenting the campaign name.

Agree on the dictionary before producing links

Write a short source-and-medium dictionary that everyone who creates links can use. Decide whether a partner should keep one stable source label across campaigns. Decide who owns the campaign name and whether it includes an offer, date or market. Consistency matters more than making a label especially clever.

Google's manual-tagging documentation explains that parameter values are case-sensitive. Email, email and EMAIL can therefore fragment a report. This builder preserves your exact capitalization so it does not silently change an existing convention.

Use public campaign labels. Never put an individual customer's name, email, phone number or authentication information into a URL. Links can appear in browser history, logs and shared messages. An email-shaped label is rejected here, but the builder cannot detect every form of sensitive data.

Use the result on the right links

External campaign links are the intended use. Do not put UTMs on links from one page of your own site to another merely to measure button clicks. A dedicated click event can answer that question without introducing another campaign label into the visit.

Google Ads auto-tagging has its own integration with Analytics. Check that setup before layering manual tags on top. This builder does not validate your advertising account, channel-group rules or reporting configuration.

Open a representative link in a test workflow, confirm the destination resolves, and check the campaign dimensions in your measurement system. A well-formed URL does not prove that a tag fired, consent was granted or an event reached Analytics.

Keep a portable campaign register

The CSV contains the destination, labels and generated link. Add an owner, publication date and placement in your own spreadsheet. Use that register when someone asks which newsletter or creative a campaign name referred to months later.

The page does not shorten links, store a campaign history or send entered values to our servers. Refreshing the page clears your edits. Copy or download the result before leaving.
